Shopping List....garlic and lamb.

Saturday afternoon....garlic harvest.

Time to dig,

 clean

 and transport for drying.

down to the dark, dark shed for drying. It should be ready in a month.
People are asking for it already at the shop.....it is very popular.

Sunday morning....loading lambs for Woolworths.

These lambs have been sold to Woolworths, for $3.80 per kilo.
They are leaving the farm today on a big truck. Rocket, my pet lamb is on this truck.
He has grown up as good as all the other lambs.

These lambs will end up in Woolworths shops....
perhaps you will even buy some...
Is lamb on your shopping list today?

Autumn Days

A beautiful autumn day....great to be out in the sunshine.
Time to get to work on my garlic garden....first I need to put some really good dirt on top. A trip to the shearing shed...for some sheep poo will do the trick.

Later in the autumn it will be time to plant the bulbs.

The rain has been lovely, it has made the grass grow like crazy!

BUT it does bring some headaches with it.....

some of the sheep are getting fly blown and some sheep have sore feet from standing in the water. The roads on the hills have big gullies in them, and the fences at the creek crossing are all washed down. The paddocks are so wet we can't drive anywhere....we can only get around on the motorbikes. The animals really would like to see a couple of weeks of sunshine. So would I and so would Dad.

It is hard to know what job to do first?

Bumper Garlic Harvest!

Garlic harvesting got underway today.....a really dirty job after the rain yesterday.

Mum digs the garlic bulbs and my job is to clean all the dirt off them ready for drying.

Some of the bulbs are enormous. They really like good, rich dirt.

The chooks are very excited about the harvest, they cannot wait to get in and clean up all the grubs.

After the wheelbarrow is loaded up, in come the chooks. It will be like Christmas time for them!

A really dirty job....a bath under the garden tap and a change of clothes.

The garlic is put in a dark, dry place until next year.

Then I will sell it.....more money for my horse!

My harvest is over and Dad still has not got started on his....it keeps raining!

Busy Boots Ready!

Spring has really sprung into action, we have had lots of rain.

Things have changed alot in the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago we were really worried that the weather was too warm. Luckily it rained and it has changed everything! The countryside looks amazing! It is time to put our busy boots on....the next couple of weeks, are planned to be hectic.

It is nearly time to shear all the sheep! The shearers and shed hands will come to work in the shed. There will be lots of mustering work for the dogs. The meat lambs are ready for sale, so there will be a trip to the sale yards. Plus all the other normal jobs, feeding the chooks, collecting the eggs, feeding the dogs and playing with poddy calves!

My calves are growing very fast. I can muster them up all on my own.

Here they come, Stella, Freckles, Queenie, Stinky and Clover followed by Garnet and I!

They are fed twice a day, morning and night AND they know exactly when that is. They drink 4 litres of milk a day. WOW they will have strong bones! We have had one addition to the family Curly, his mum did not love him BUT I do!

The vegetables have all started to really grow.

Potatoes....hiding somewhere?
Lettuce, for summer salads!
Rhubarb, yummy cakes and puddings!

Asparagus....grows SO FAST....can you count them all!

Strawberries....summer fruits!

Spinach and Garlic gone CRAZY!
It seems everything loves springtime....including me....I wonder how much I will grow this spring!
